A VERY PRIMITIVE, UNUSUAL FORM CEDAR ROOT SALISH BASKET. PROBABLY ORIGINATING OUT OF THE THOMPSON RIVER AREA; BUT THE PRIMITIVE DESIGN, TINY IMBRICATION AND ROUGH UNEVEN COILS POINTS TO A POSSIBLE CHILCOTIN MAKER. WIRE REINFORCING ROD BUILT INTO THE TOP COIL. SOME STITCH AND IMBRICATION LOSSES. PROVENANCE : VALLEY MUSEUM IN FALKLAND.
